Mary Lynne will repeat her very popular 2013 Bead Blast class  with a slightly expanded version for KC Bead Society members.  On Saturday you will learn to bezel or frame unusual shapes using wonderful raku focal pieces - Birds or Hearts - from Maku Studio. You will learn different ways to cope with pointy, v-shaped, convex, and concave shapes as part of this class.  Once your focal piece is bezeled or framed, we will explore additional ways to embellish your creation to create a beaded component.  Sunday afternoon will be devoted to finishing techniques.  You will learn various ways to use your beaded component to assemble a piece of wearable art.  Techniques will include gluing, reinforcement, backing, edging, fringing, more embellishing techniques (Can you ever have too much embellishment?), and using a variety of findings.  The emphasis will be finishing your piece like a pro with the idea of making your bead-embroidered jewelry gallery-worthy.

About Maku Studio

Marianne "MAK" Kasparian is the creative force that is Maku Studio.  Her unique raku creations are becoming increasingly popular among bead artists, designers, and collectors.  I met Mak at the Bead & Button Show last year and approached her about creating pieces for a class I wanted to teach. She was delighted.  To learn more about Maku Studio, please visit her website www.MAKUstudio.com.
