December Program

December 13th Annual Holiday Party

We will have our annual Christmas party and ornament exchange on Friday, December 13, 2013.  Members should bring a covered dish to share and those who wish to participate in the ornament exchange should bring their ornament which must be wrapped or in a gift bag.  Participants will draw numbers at the start of the meeting and our president, Leann Roberts will select the first number.  Once the first person selects an ornament, they must show it to the membership, and then draw a number for the next person.  We will continue to draw numbers and each subsequent participant will have the option of picking one of the wrapped ornaments or “stealing” one of the ornaments already picked.  Each ornament can only be “stolen” two times. 

If you have not created your ornament yet, there is still time. The challenge for this year’s ornament exchange is to “Bead Snow”.  The rules this year are as follows:

1.    You must submit an ornament which conveys the idea of snow.  An ornament is defined as an object which may be hung on a tree or in a window, but could also include earrings or a pendant.

2.    Your ornament must include at least five beads. 

3.    You may use any technique to create your ornament.

4.    You must be a paid member of the KC Bead Society to participate in the exchange.

This exchange is always a lot of fun and a great way to end up with a cool new ornament.

But wait!  There’s more!  We will also be raffling off the Bead Jar full of goodies donated by KCBS members all year.  You can still bring your orphan beads for the Bead Jar. Proceeds will be donated to Hope House. And don’t forget to check the Hope House website to check for items needed.  If you wish to donate items to Hope House, you may bring these to December meeting.

Since we will be doing the ornament exchange and Bead Jar Raffle, there is no additional program so if you come to early beading, you may bring items such as finished jewelry or components to sell.
